Chen Yifei (1946 - 2005) was a renowned Chinese artist.

He was a classic painter, director, and fashion designer.

During the Cultural Revolution, he was a leading painter, known for big Mao portraits and heroic event depictions.

After the Cultural Revolution, he became a forerunner in Chinese aesthetics.

He promoted a new sense of modernity in paintings, fashion, cinema, and design.

In his oil paintings, he blended realistic and romantic techniques with Chinese subjects, often featuring melancholic women in traditional dresses.

His “Romantic Realism” works used dark, dense colors for a rich, integral feel.

In 1990, he returned to Shanghai and painted Impressionist landscapes of Tibet and Zhejiang.

He also became a style entrepreneur, creating fashion brands, decorating hotels, and selling high - end items.

In 2005, while working on “Barber,” he fell ill and died.
